Teachers are on the frontline day in and day out, meeting the demands of their students, parents, administrators and the school district, sometimes all at once! Even the sturdiest and most resilient teachers could use some techniques to keep stress at bay and find ways to feel refreshed and renewed throughout the work day. This workshop provides quick and specific tips and strategies for helping teachers show up every day as their best selves. Topics include mindfulness, nutrition, movement and other stress management techniques. Any of our workshops can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your school community.
Managing SOL Stress
L: Leave Stress Behind
Does the mere mention of the SOLs send your teachers and students into a tail-spin? Does spring-time bring added stress to your school because it means that the SOLs are not far off? If this sounds familiar, we are here to help. This workshop is designed to help your students understand the source of their SOL-related stress and learn specific stress-management techniques that they can use in the days leading up to the exams and while they are testing. Your students will learn how to pay attention to their own unique stress triggers and how to nip them in the bud in order to bring about a healthier relationship to the stress they feel about the SOLs. They will learn how to let stress work for them, instead of letting it crush them! Techniques they will learn include mindfulness, deep breathing, movement and visualization. Kids will also learn about healthy, tasty snacks that fuel their brains and help keep anxiety at bay.
Kids are under a lot of stress, which can lead to unusually high levels of anxiety. In fact, anxiety is now an epidemic. In this workshop, kids (ages 13-17) come together to talk about things that stress them out and to explore ways to manage that stress. Kids will have a chance to reflect on stressful moments in their own lives and then develop concrete strategies to address those moment. This is a great opportunity for kids to see that they are not alone when it comes to stress!
Foods to reduce stress and anxiety
Food is powerful! What you eat can have a major impact on your health, your mood and how well you sleep! Learn how to eat to maximize your energy, lower your stress levels and keep going all day long.
Stress got the better of you? Learn techniques to help you regain your inner peace and tackle the day with grace and confidence. This workshop will begin with taking a few minutes to identify your own unique “flash points,” moments in life that really get the best of you, and then develop specific strategies to avoid these flash points or help release you from the grip of stress and anxiety when they are unavoidable.
